The DAIHORIN-KAKU publishes books on Buddhism, and sells Buddhist artifacts.
The comprehensive monthly magazine “DAIHORIN” (it means Maha DHARMA Cakra) publishes articles on a wide variety of Buddhist topics, and has been in circulation since 1934.

◆Our Logo
Our logo is the sword-bearing guardian deity who is flying with his foot stepping on the Dharma Cakra. The image is found within an historical depiction called “the picture scroll of the history of Mt.Shigi” (owned by Chogosonshi-ji Temple).
◆Our History
  • 1934 the first issue of the DAIHORIN was published by the International Information Company Ltd.  
  • 1938 the first editon of the book “Zendan” (written by SAWAKI Kodo) was published.
  • 1945 Due to WWll, all other publications with the exception of DAIHORIN were discontinued.  
  • 1951 the business was restarted.  
  • 1966 Independence was gained from the International Information Company Ltd.  
  • 1969 the DAIHORIN Ishihara Scholarship Society was launched to promote Buddhist studies.  
  • 1989 the sale of Buddhist artifacts is begun.
◆About the monthly magazine DAIHORIN
DAIHORIN is a monthly periodical, begun in Sep.1934, with the aim of popularizing Buddhism. It’s not limited to any particular sect, and is comprehensive periodical that covers a variety of Buddhist issues.
The magazine made famous ascetic monks such as SAWAKI Kodo, YAMAMOTO Gempo, ASHIKAGA Shizan known to the world, and has been issued up to the present day with the cooperation of many scholars from the different fields of literature, Buddhism, philosophy, economics and arts.
The magazine aims to produce a rich variety of content and covers a wide range of topics such as 60-page feature issue, Buddhist sermons, serialized Buddhist introductions, the color and black-white pictorials , essays and serial stories.
Taking into consideration the changing times, relying on variety of contributing experts, the themes of the feature issues endeavor for all to be able to understand Buddhism.
